Mrs. Zelfie Beaty's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Zelfie Lee Beaty
Mrs. Zelfie Lee Beaty of Livingston, Texas was born on October 27, 1932 in Violet Hill, Arkansas where she lived until she married and relocated with her husband to Texas. Her parents were Alice and Harlen Gilbert. She was the first of 2 children. She graduated from high school in Izard County, Arkansas.
Mrs. Beaty worked in the South Houston area as an Educational Aide.
She was married to Homer Louis Beaty in 1950 and thereafter became an Air Force wife, taking on the special responsibility and honor of supporting a nation’s hero.
Mrs. Beaty was a member of the Soda Baptist Church. She studied many religions with interest and fervor and did not come upon her convictions by circumstance or by chance, but by well-educated choice and divine guidance. While she appreciated and respected many aspects of many religions, Mrs. Beaty was a Christian woman entirely in her heart, soul, and mind.
Mrs. Beaty was an intellectual, a gifted artist and writer, a supporter, a teacher, and an amateur philosopher.
Mrs. Beaty identified the most important moments of her life as her marriage, the birth of her daughters, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many shared happy memories with friends.
She loved to bird and squirrel watch, follow politics voraciously, craft, restore antiques, paint landscapes and explore the theories of physics. She loved to listen to her husband sing, play banjo, and recite poetry.
Mrs. Beaty made her final journey from this earth in San Antonio, Texas on March 7, 2016 at 10:55AM with her grandchildren at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents Alice Terwiliger-Gilbert and Harlen Gilbert, daughter Nancy Beaty, and husband Homer Beaty. She is survived by her daughter Martha McAllister; grandchildren Jennifer and Scott Grant, James and Sara Robertson; great-grandchildren Taryn and Troy Robertson and Gavin Grant; brother and sister-in-law Clide and Joyce Gilbert.
The funeral for Mrs. Beaty will be held at 2PM on March 14, 2016 at South Memorial Park Cemetery, 12400 Telephone Rd., Pearland, TX 77581 and officiated by Brother Wayne Bickley of Soda Baptist Church.
