Mr. William A. Priddy's Obituary
William “Bill” Archer Priddy, 83 a longtime resident of Pearland entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was a loving husband, father, and Paw Paw to his family. Dad touched many lifes and will be greatly missed but not forgotten. His parents D.C. and Louise Priddy greeted him on August 29, 1934 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Louise Priddy, Bobbie Macie Marie Priddy his bride of 49 years, and his brother Dewitt Priddy. He is survived by Ron Priddy and Susan of Pearland, Vickie Priddy Webb and Scott of Alvin, Wade Priddy of Pearland, Dorothy Priddy, and Clinton Priddy of California. He is survived by his grandchildren Brenda Priddy Hudson and David, Sharon Priddy Horne and Ryan, Micah Webb, and Noah Webb. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Meredith Hudson, Jake Hudson, Brayden Horne, and Alice Horne.
Most of his working career consisted being employed at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He was an Instrument Design Engineer both at Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine. The journey also took him to UT Health Science Center, where he worked closely with medical researchers in designing prototypes and final versions of medical equipment. One of dad’s greatest accomplishment was the designing of a surgical table that work fly in space aboard the U.S. NASA space shuttle program. While at UT, he could also be seen on the evening news as a part of Dr. James “Red” Duke’s medical reports. Dad also worked at Texas A&M IBT where he would retire.
The favorite thing for Dad to do was to play, watch and talk baseball. During his early playing days, he tried out for the Houston Buffs, who became the Colt .45 and were eventually named the Houston Astros. He was a Pearland Little League and high school umpire for many years. These games consisted of ones played by two of his children. He also loved watching his grandson Noah playing baseball for Alvin High School and Texas Bluechips.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home. Burial to follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
