Thuy Duc Tran's Obituary
Thuy “Max” Duc Tran was born on April 4, 1974, in Phan Thiet, Vietnam to Bau and Lien Tran. He was the third of five children. At the age of 46, he unexpectedly left us on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Max graduated from the Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems. After college, he followed his parents to help them transition out of the shrimping business from New Orleans, Louisiana to Houston, Texas. Later, he moved to Los Angeles, California to be near his sisters.
On November 22, 2003, Max met the love of his life, Thu Nhi Thi Nguyen, on a visit to New Orleans. It was love at first sight. He knew right away that she was “the one!” Max and Nhi married on February 11, 2011, in Laguna Hills, California. Their Buddhist Wedding Ceremony was held later on November 24, 2011, in Nhi’s hometown, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. While living in Buena Park, California, Max and Nhi were blessed with two twin sons on January 31, 2014, Adam and Andrew. Max and his family relocated to Houston in 2016 and became the proud owners of Calliope’s Seafood and PoBoys. It successfully opened in August 2017 off of Westheimer Road.
Max was a man of many passions and hobbies, but most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He loved to cook, go fishing, go snowboarding, visit the beach, and travel. Although he enjoyed music of all genres, his favorites were of the 80’s and EDM. He was handy and mechanical. In his spare time, he restored cars. His latest project was a red BMW 3-series convertible. He was a movie buff. After a long day of work, he would stay up late watching action-packed movies, romantic comedies, and documentaries.
Max was caring, kind, generous, loyal, hard working, confident, fun, and outgoing. From California to France, he made his mark wherever he went. He valued friendship and was everyone’s brother. He was a family man and wanted to build a village. He was best remembered for his sense of humor. He always had a way to make others laugh and smile.
Max’s memory will live on as a devoted husband, a loving dad, a faithful son, the best brother, a playful uncle, and a kind-hearted friend.
Max’s loving memories will be forever cherished by all those that remain.
