Ronald Dexter Tannenbaum's Obituary
Ronald “Ron” Dexter Tannenbaum, 80, died on October 17, 2022 in the presence of his loving wife, Connie. He was born September 25, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to Zebulon and Virginia (Dorneman) Tannenbaum who had married on Pearl Harbor Day.
Ron’s parents divorced when he was still young, so his mother moved him to Arizona on medical advice for his asthma. Later, they moved to California where he enjoyed swimming and surfing. He was given a medal when he saved another child from drowning. He also met Walt Disney as a Sea Scout.
Ron graduated from high school in 1961 while living in Torrance, California where his mother owned a beauty shop. He attended El Camino College, then relocated to live in San Antonio with his father, a successful businessman. Ron earned a certificate from San Antonio Junior College in marketing. He went on to attend University of Texas in Austin. Throughout his life, Ron worked in business and sales for various companies ranging from life insurance to medical equipment.
Ron was a history buff who loved collecting coins and telling jokes. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many capacities, including as a tour guide when the Houston, Texas temple opened in 2000.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Constance (Brooks) Tannenbaum as well as his children Samuel Tannenbaum, Sarah Gilligan, and grandson Samuel. He is also survived by stepchildren Rebecca, Lars, Samara, Nels, Hans and Adena, including eighteen more grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
