Mr. Robert R. Comeaux's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Rodney Comeaux, Sr. passed into eternal peace at the age of 86 on May 6, 2016.
He was born October 6, 1929 in Abbeville, Louisiana to Lilly and Andrew Comeaux. A man of faith, a gentle spirit, father, grandfather, great grandfather, encourager, friend and companion, he touched so many lives. His life served as an example to all who knew him of a life well-lived.
He attended Louisiana State University where he first pursued the idea of becoming an architect; but, later completed his education at McNeese State University where he received his degree in accounting. He worked in the Farm Credit Bank system for over 50 years rising to the position of Vice President. He also served his country in the National Guard.
During his high school years in Kaplan, Louisiana, he met Myrtle Marie Maraist through mutual friends, and they married on October 14, 1950. The two shared 59 wonderful years together. They had six children and ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Together they left a legacy of fond memories. They shared a love of travel and explored many parts of the country finally settling in their little piece of heaven on earth in the town of “Littleton, New Hampshire.” He moved back to the Houston area to be with family and to try to piece together a new life after the passing of his wife. His children are forever grateful for this remaining time they had with him. He met many wonderful new friends at the Brookdale Retirement Community in Webster, Texas and enjoyed the remaining years of his life there.
He had a passion for the outdoors, loved taking long walks, and gardening. He especially loved the arts, music and history. He attended plays, concerts, visited museums, went on many “treasure hunts” for music and books and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents Lilly and Andrew Comeaux, his loving wife Myrtle Comeaux, his grandson Andy Comeaux and his recently deceased sister in-law Catherine Maraist.
