Richard Vincent Carter Sr.'s Obituary
Richard "Dick" Vincent Carter, Sr. of Pearland, TX passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018. He was 79 years old.
Dick was born in Wilmington DE, the son of the late Kennard Lynwood Carter and Victoria Mae DeDominico Carter.
Dick was a 1956 graduate of Wilmington High School. He was employed by SIP/Parsons for over 20 years as a Senior Design Supervisor and later worked as a Contract Checker for S & B Engineering. Dick served in the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Reserve. Dick was a founding member of a 50's & 60's Supper Club Band "The Regents" who remained together for 14 years.
Dick had an extreme passion for music. He loved to sing and play guitar and base. He spent many years teaching guitar and most recently played guitar and base in a Praise Band at Freedom Fellowship Church in Pearland where he was a member. Dick has written 35 songs and has 2 recorded CD's.
Dick was just as passionate about his art. He is a former award winning and often published professional photographer and life long artist who loved to paint. He studied Fine Art under several well known artists, including but not limited to, Ralph Scharff, Marcia Silvetri, and most recently Shirley Moore-Leago.
Dick has served as the President of the Local Color Artists Association. He has been a signature member of the National Society of Artists as well as serving as Treasurer and President.
Dick enjoyed many things in life. In addition to his art, music and photography he spent time breeding and raising Shetland Sheepdogs, traveling, scuba diving, fishing, boxing, reading, and watching black and white movies and Westerns. Most importantly he loved Worshiping and Serving the Lord.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jessie BonGiovanni Carter of Pearland TX, a son Richard Vincent Carter, Jr. of Chestertown, MD, a daughter, Laura Susan Barnhardt, and her husband Todd, of Chestertown, MD, a stepdaughter Marsha Renee' Kesler, of Kansas City, MO, a stepson, Marshall Harold Rich, and his wife, Kim of Sioux City, IA.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Deutsch, and her husband Zachary of Summerville, NC, Richard Carter, of St. Michael's, MD, Brandi Scott, and her husband, Jason of Galena, MD, Jennifer Wiltbank and her husband Jonathan of Chestertown, MD, Christopher Good of Kansas City, MO, Abby Good of Kansas City, MO, Britnee Rich of Colorado Springs, CO, MarLee Rich of Sioux City, IA, and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother David Carter, of Newark, DE, and a grandson, Jeffrey Good, of Kansas City, MO.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 11:00-2:00 with a service to follow at 2:00 at Freedom Fellowship Church, 1201 N Main St, Pearland, TX 77581.
