Our loving and fun memories of the one and only Dick Carter. We would have to go back over thirty years to when we first met Dick. I first met him when I was looking for a Bedlingrton Terrier puppy. He so happened to have a litter. We went and looked at them and I fell in love with a small female. He convinced us to show her, which started our dog show career. We spent many fun hours showing and getting to know Dick and what a character he turned out to be. We had a son who was about 9 years old (Justin) and he and Dick became best buds. They adored each other and Dick spent lots of time dreaming up what he could do to Justin. One time we had come home from a show and Dick pulled down Justin's shorts and put him in an ice chest full of ice, of course. It was really funny. Another time and by this time we were doing dog show photography with Dick. So we spent many weekends with him. Once we stopped to eat on the way home and out front was an old timey phone booth. Well seemed to Dick like a good place to lock in Justin! After much noise, he finally let him out. They were so close and Justin thought he hung the moon. Dick always had to order more food than he was going to eat because Justin was going to eat what Dick ate, which turned out sometimes to be an unusual dish for a kid. But if Dick ate it, Justin ate it. He was a fun fun person to be around. We loved him dearly. We kept in touch through the years but didn't see him as often as I wish we had. Will miss knowing he has left this earth but know he is in a better place. The world was a better place with him in it! Jessie, you are one of the best things that ever happened to him and he loved you dearly. Keep in touch. Love you, Ann & Herb Burkhead
