Raymond Macek's Obituary
Raymond Macek was never one to be the center of attention. He found peace in the simple things: working in his shed, sitting on the back porch enjoying views of the pasture, caring for the family land and home where he spent his life and raised his family.
Raymond was a provider and protector. He worked hard to ensure his family had everything they needed, and often more than they asked for. He was a true example of the “strong, silent type,” and throughout most of his life, he showed his love through actions more than words: building a swing set in the backyard, driving across the country for a family trip to Disneyland, or making sure there was always a generous pile of presents under the Christmas tree. He served his country as a Green Beret in Vietnam, and although he kept those experiences private, they undoubtedly helped shape the man and father he became.
Stubborn and independent, Raymond never wanted to rely on anyone or anything. Even as Parkinson’s disease made chores around the house more difficult, he adapted in his own way, refusing to give in to its limitations. He was many things, but a quitter was never one of them. He could fix almost anything, and if he couldn’t fix it completely, he would find a way to make it work so you’d never know it had been broken. THIS is how he loved: quietly, behind the scenes, making sure the people he loved were always taken care of.
Raymond took his last breath peacefully at home, in the house his father built, within the walls where he found his peace and quiet. He leaves behind a family who loves and misses him dearly but finds peace in knowing he is free and made whole.
