I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Patsy Cavazos. She was a true force for good in Houston ISD, always passionate about teaching and learning. I’ll never forget the encouragement she gave me to pursue a specialist position after visiting my reading lab ancillary classroom. As an executive principal, she made it a point to meet with all stakeholders, ensuring that every voice was heard. Her leadership and commitment left a lasting impact on so many of us. You could always count on Patsy to be honest, objective, and graceful. She supported me in all of my various roles in the district. I remained in contact with her when she went to Sheldon ISD. This picture is from my goodbye party when I left HISD. Patsy took time out of her busy schedule to come by and wish me well. Heaven has truly gained a good one. She will always hold a special place in my heart and will be greatly missed.
