My deepest condolences to Nova’s family. I got to know Nova through her poems and stories at Texas Children’s Hospital. She was a gifted storyteller who could recall details that made her stories entertaining, with a sense of humor and strong voice all her own. It was a pleasure to sit and write with her, as I learned about Nova’s unique view of the world. She was a spirited little girl, so full of love and compassion. Please know I am holding you in my heart in your time of grief.
I took care of Nova as one of her infusion nurses and I would just like to share what an impact she made on me and what a joy you all are as a family. I recall coming home the first time I took care of her and telling my girls "I met the most special little girl today with the biggest personality you've ever seen!". I remember her detailing her upcoming Halloween costume with so much excitement that it brightened my entire day. You are an incredible family, and so kind even during hard days. Nova is a unit celebrity and everyone who met her loved her. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers, she is a special soul and is greatly missed at TCH.
There's so much to say about Nova, and the entire Baker family, but I'll sum it up with: I'm glad to know them. We're going to miss Nova fiercely.
She will forever be a hero to me with her gentleness, spirit and compassion for others during her most difficult moments. Her love will always endure and be a guidepost for everyone to emulate.
I work at Pearwood Skate Center. We had the pleasure of hosting one of Nova’s birthday parties. She is truly amazing I appreciate the opportunity to meet her and her family. I am forever humbled by the strength of her and her Friends/Family. Please lord give the family strength to keep moving forward.

So many memories I have prior to and after her diagnosis. Nova always wanted to go for walks. 1 walk she was giving directions and we got lost and I showed Nova how to drink out of a neighbors water hose, another walk ended in us coming back with “Treasures” from a neighbors curb. She would always say “it was her idea mommy”. Gonna miss my adventures with Nova
