I first met Linie more than 25 years ago. I am very used to talking medicine and science with patients but rarely does anyone follow my dialogue as closely as Linie. We both decided we would work together for the cure and over the decades I have shared my ups and downs with clinical trials, with uncooperative mice that would not breed, with big Pharma companies and a general anxiety of trying to convince other scientists to work on the tough problem of PBC. Linie always listened and kept telling that it will happen and to be persistent. Together we launched and finished the first and the largest study of PBC epidemiology in the United States. The epidemiology we accomplished became the model tor similar studies in the UK, Japan and Australia. We developed mouse models of PBC, one of which we should name the Moore Mouse, that is now being used to study PBC in four continents. Linie planned meetings and enlisted and encouraged members to become active. She made sure the PBCers would go on and has to know that Carol Roberts will succeed because of what Line has done. Outside of PBC we talked about dogs, cats, horses and family. I followed Linie during her final illness and not once did she express regret to me. Hers was truly a life worth living and I am the better for knowing her. Thank you Linie Moore!
