Joyce Marie (Stelly) Mayo's Obituary
Joyce Marie (Stelly) Mayo was born on August 4, 1955 to the parents of Lucy Sylvanna (Green) Stelly and the late Aaron Stelly in Opelousas, Louisiana. She attended Opelousas High School. At an early age Joyce accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She met and married Michael Johnson and with this union three children were born. Later in life, Joyce relocated to Houston, TX and began her career in childcare. She was a hard worker and found favor on her job. She retired many years later. In 1999, Joyce and Charles W. Mayo (now deceased), were united in holy matrimony and lived a loving union. Joyce was a dedicated mother and a devoted wife.
On October 17, 2021, God called her home, where there is no pain, nor burden of a tear.
She is preceded in death by her father Aaron Stelly, her beloved husband Charles W. Mayo, along with her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Joyce leaves to cherish her precious memories: her three loving sons, Marcus Johnson (Mary), Michael Johnson Jr., Matthew Johnson (Tangela); her loving mother Lucy Sylvanna (Green) Stelly; her five siblings - Paul Stelly (Debra), Cheryl Philip (Glen), Aaron Stelly Jr. (Dorothy), Jerome Stelly (Bernadette), and Martin Stelly; two grandchildren-Savanna Johnson and Aaron Johnson. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7
