A Tribute to my Beloved Daughter, Joyce
From: Your Dear Momma, Lucy Stelly
Joyce, when I first heard that you had died, I just asked, “why?”, and then I cried some tears. Then, I thought about some things. I said, “Joyce has gone to meet her daddy, Aaron, in Heaven,” and then I smiled. Joyce, you know that you were your daddy’s favorite, and you looked a lot like him, as well. Also, I said, “Joyce was missing her husband, Charlie, and she went to be with him, in Heaven.”
But, daughter, I knew that you were sick, and I prayed endlessly for you to get well. You were my first born of 6 children, and I always thought that no parent should ever have to experience the loss of their child.
I do know, though, that God, our Almighty Father, knows what is best for you, and for all of us, His children. I know, Joyce, that God has given you His best, as promised. He has removed all of your pain and suffering. God has received you, Joyce, to live and enjoy everlasting life, in His heavenly Kingdom.
Momma loves you, Joyce. I will miss you dearly, but I will remember you, always.
I Love You, Daughter.
-Mom
A Tribute to Our Beloved “Big Sister”
To: Joyce
From: your siblings, Paul, Cheryl, Aaron Jr., Jerome and Martin.
Joyce, you were the first born, the oldest of 6 children. Two girls and four boys, were born to our parents, Aaron and Lucy Stelly.
Joyce, from the very start of your life as a small child, you did not hesitate to accept, and take on the role of “Big Sister.” You made sure that you were our protector. Growing up, we as kids, played outdoors a lot. There was no such things as video games, or social media. The two girls played house with dolls, tea sets, made mud pies in the back yard, and tried to serve the mud pies to the four boys to eat. We played kick ball and soft ball with our cousins and neighbors nearby. You were the tough “Big Sister,” in that, if a disagreement or fight started with another child against you or one of your siblings, you were rough, tough, and ready to defend, and fight, to protect your younger sister or brothers. We can’t remember a single fight that you lost.
This is apparently the reason why your life long career included the caring for, nurturing, and teaching of children. You have always loved and cared for babies and children, and they always loved you back. All the children you cared for were so happy to see you when arriving in the mornings, and when it was time for the children to leave at day’s end, most of them would cry to stay. The babies and children you cared for, sure enough “loved them some Ms. Joyce.”
We, your siblings, will Love You, Joyce, “Big Sister,” Always and Forever. You will surely be missed, and never forgotten!
