Jason Randall Brumley's Obituary
On August 22, 2020, Jason Randall Brumley passed away peacefully at his home in Seabrook, TX at the age of 48. He was born on March 28,1972 in Charleston, SC and grew up in Pasadena, TX. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1990 and went on to get his Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting from San Jacinto College and began working at Pauluhn Sub-Sea Lighting Manufacturing Group. He also worked at Lift Aids in Houston helping with the modifications on accessible vehicles and at Otten Consulting as an accessibility consultant. He continued his education studying the Texas Accessibility Standards and became a registered specialist, obtaining his license in that field for the state starting his own business, TexasRas.com. Known as the "Accessibility Guy”, he worked tirelessly as an advocate for those with special needs as an ADA consultant completing numerous accessibility inspections on businesses in the Houston area, including NRG Stadium and Minute Maid Park. He was proud of his participation in the television show, Extreme Makeover, to lend his expertise in accessibility standards for a home that was built for a family with several disabled children in Kemah, TX.
Jason was a dreamer and an achiever with an unmatched zest for life. He was born with many physical challenges from the birth defect Spina Bifida, but his powerful mindset and tenacity contradicted those limitations. He had many interests including music; attending nearly every KLOL event with Steven’s and Pruitt where he was a VIP with backstage passes, meet and greet, crew passes and a favorite of every rock star fortunate enough to meet him. Houston music fans will remember Jason as one of the biggest ever fans of rock music. Some of his favorites were Motley Crüe, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Pantera, Sixx A.M., Journey, Ozzy Osborne and would attendconcerts, not only in Houston, but all over the nation. He rocked with the best.
He never met a stranger and had many long-term friendships with band members over the years. Racing was another passion of his, in which he became immersed following his first Indy 500 race in 1992. You’d find him watching the races alongside the teams and other notable celebrities. Even riding tandem as an official Xtreme Racing team member on an occasion, which was a highlight in his life. He followed Danica Patrick and became good friends, not only with her, but her family. He would pack up his van and, many times, travel by himself all over the country following the Indy Car circuit where he was included in the award presentations and banquets.
Jason was a hero and inspiration in many ways; he never said “can’t”, instead he asked “how" because he knew all things are possible and proved that every day. Greeting each person with his unforgettable smile, he was always a pleasure to be around with his quick wit and sense of humor. He
was also an extremely generous person, but above all, he was kind…with a heart of gold.
He is survived by his mother Glenda Cox, stepfather Richard Cox, sister Jessica Jones and nephew Wyatt Austin Jones, who he truly loved and adored. His aunt Patsy Watkins, his uncle Emmett Smith and many cousins: Rhonda Karim, Greg Perkins, Angie Roppolo, Misty Ladewig, Kim Mehne, Amanda Smith, Pam Alexander and an overwhelming number of friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Louis and Grace Muecke and his loving aunt Nancy Smith.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to his friends Cheryl Stano, Vikki Johnson, Serena Goodwin, Tom Wood, Browning Williams, Sal Trevino, Mario Alvarado, and Raul Espino for always being by his side. Also, thanks to Dr. Zenithe Ware, Dr. Lawrence Nguyen, Dr. Timothy Boone and Dr. Farid Noie for providing outstanding medical care.
