Mr. James Stephen Francis Jr.'s Obituary
James Stephen “Coby” Francis Jr., Phd. passed away July 22, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Coby was born September 29, 1945 in Norwalk, CT. Coby spent his early childhood years in the New York City area and Shelter Island, NY before moving to Miami, FL. Coby graduated from St. Andrews School in Boca Raton, FL. He held his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Miami in physiological psychology. He loved the Canes! Coby married Sandy Eisworth in Houston, TX in 1979. Coby spent many years in academic research into the causes of hypertension in mammals before realizing his true calling as a teacher. He has been a professor of psychology with San Jacinto College for 27 plus years where he taught countless students in a variety of courses in the Psychology Department. Teaching always brought him much joy and he taught classes year round. What brought him the most joy, however, and what he was most proud of, were his two sons, James S. Francis, III and Grover M. Francis.
Coby was preceded in death by his father, James S. Francis, Sr. step mother, Genevieve; mother, Elaine Price and her husband William.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Eisworth Francis of Pearland, TX, sons James S. Francis III and Grover Francis, both of New York, NY. Also surviving siblings, Kelly Callahan of New York, NY and her daughter Kristin; Larry Francis and wife Donna of New Jersey, and their children Danielle, Amanda and Julia; Drew Francis of Los Angeles CA and wife Katicia and their sons Skyeler and Dillion, brother Edwin Fiske Francis of San Francisco, CA and his daughter Madeliene and her three children; and a sister, Susan Ciaccio of Brooklyn, NY.
A memorial service will be planned at a future date. His wife and sons intend to scatter his ashes near his ancestral roots in Ireland.
