Coby would always take the time to discuss football, no matter how busy he was, especially if it was about his beloved Miami Hurricanes. One of the things I missed the most when I retired from teaching at San Jac was the weekly college football picks competition. Coby, along with John Bolen, usually made the poll out every week and determined who the winners were because no one else would volunteer for the job. Coby always seemed to be in the top three in picking winners every year. I know that when I pass from this vale of tears, he will have a football poll ready for me to fill out.

Coby, you will be greatly missed, by your family, by your friends, by your colleagues and by your students. Thank you for your friendship.

Coby was a dear friend and one of the kindest people on earth. He had a great following of students who were inspired by classes. I will think of him often and always remember his passion for psychology, his caring nature, and good sense of humor. He really enjoyed serving as the advisor for Psi Beta - Psychology club. Anytime a student needed assistance, he was there to listen and provide advice. I am so glad that I was blessed to have known Coby for so many years. His inspiration and dedication to the students will live on in the hearts of many of us. I will always remember his ability to never give up and the way in which he treated people with such kindness.

Coby and I had next door offices for 25 years at San Jac, and we spent countless hours talking about politics, football, education and life in general. He was one of the kindest people you could ever meet and a truly dedicated educator. Since our offices were close, I often heard Coby counseling or advising a student, and he was always patient and compassionate (even when some of the students probably were undeserving). I was often amused by Coby because he was brilliant in many ways, and yet I had to help him fill out his office schedule for the semester. His office was a mess. Papers would literally be stacked a foot high, and yet he could always find the document he needed. He will be missed by all who knew him, and education has lost a remarkable teacher. It’s too bad his beloved Miami Hurricanes couldn’t win another national championship for him.

James and I would meet each other a lot of times passing in the parking area. He was always teaching at every opportunity and enjoyed his work. I enjoyed visiting with James and will miss him dearly.
