Mr. Jack J. Barneburg's Obituary
Jack J. Barneburg, 76, of Pearland, passed away and went to his heavenly dwelling place on Saturday, July 18, 2015 surrounded by his family at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston. Jack was born on June 22, 1939 in Fort Worth, TX to Jack H. and Wilma (Sadler) Barneburg. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Jacqueline Andrewartha on August 4, 1961 in Austin, TX and she survives of the home. Jack was raised in Killeen, where he graduated high school. From there he attended and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1963. He joined the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) following his graduation. This was an exciting time for the United States space industry, and Jack was a big contributor to NASA during his 35 year career from its early stages including Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, Space Shuttle and the International Space Station programs. Jack was a quiet person and enjoyed spending time on his farm in Comanche, TX, reading about the Civil War, American history and aviation. During his later years he loved spending time with his grandchildren, and going to high school football games to watch his grandsons play and granddaughter perform at halftime. In addition to his wife Jackie, survivors include two children, Greg and his wife Mindy, Nevada, MO, and Carrie Hildreth and her husband Steve, League City, TX; three Hildreth grandchildren Ashley, Jarrett, and Chase; sister Sandra Barbin and brother Rick Barneburg both of Tyler, TX; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00PM on Thursday evening, July 23, 2015 at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 North Main St. Pearland, TX 77581. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, July 24, 2015 in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
