Gil Allen Co's Obituary
Gil Allen Co was born on September 13,1976 in Pasadena, TX and went home to be with our Lord on February 22, 2020 at the age of 43. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edgar and Eloisa Matteson; and maternal grandparents, Jesse and Margaret Canales. He is survived
by his wife, Tina Co; parents, Gil and Gloria Co; brother, Thomas Co and wife, Virginia; brother, Eric Co and wife, Natalie; and nephews, Austin and Luca.
Gil was a supernatural force of generosity and kindness. To have known him was an honor bestowed. He was an alchemist of human connection, and by gentle force of will, he could change your life.
Gil, a natural teacher, had the ability to teach you about anything that he knew. He was a professor of patience. He had the will to share and illustrate details of what inspired him, what was thought provoking, and what he loved.
There was no doubt about what Gil’s passions were: Family. Friendships. Music. Literature. Sports. Art in whatever form. As a schoolteacher, Gil was completely aware of the responsibility to influence a young mind.
Gil was not swayed by the pressure of time. The importance of being in the moment was his reality. Whoever you are to Gil – his parent, brother, sister, family, friend, colleague, teammate, student or perhaps even a stranger – you knew – in that moment of interaction, you were completely significant.
In lieu of flowers, the Co family wishes to have donations made to the Houston Public Library Foundation. Literacy & the City of Houston were 2 things Gil proudly promoted.
