in honor of George.

Captain Rathbun was my first Sr. Captain in the Houston Fire Department in 1973. He always took his job very seriously and was always very professional. I remember taking station 61's ladder truck over to the training academy to practice setting it up and drilling with squirting water from the heavy nozzle. It was a lot of work, but he made sure his men could operate everything fast and correctly. Every firefighter I know always spoke highly of Captain Rathbun. Rest in peace.

Poppy had the sweetest laugh. He always said he was happy to see you and even when he felt bad; he was more concerned about to how you were doing. Such a pleasure to have known him.
