Fernando “Fred/Freddy” Fuertes Fernando “Fred” Antonio Fuertes passed away on May 17, 2015 in Pasadena, Texas at the age of 61 after suffering a major heart attack. Fred was born on October 22, 1953 in Lima, Ohio to Fernando Luis Read Obituary
I knew Freddy from baseball in Freeway Manor teenage league, and especially his dad, the coach and photographer for the league. I met Freddy again when he worked at Diamond Shamrock as a laboratory technician in 1975. I did too, and we shared an apartment for a year at Willow Springs. It was in Freddy's foosball days, and we had a table in the apartment! I remember he later bought a sailboat, and then owned a newspaper for a while.
I am saddened by his departure and will miss him; he was a great guy!
I was very saddened to hear of Fred's passing. I worked at S&B for 21 years and during that time had countless encounters with Fred He had a happy attitude and a wonderful sense of humor which I will never forget. He was always willing to help in every situation and to share a laugh or two. I know that no one will ever be able to "fill his shoes" and he will be sorely missed. My hearfelt sympathy is extended to his family. God bless you all and God bless Fred.
My first memories of "Freddie" are of a little league baseball player. His dad and mine were head coach and assistant coach for their eldest sons for many years. Many years later I ran into "Fred" after he went to work for S&B, where I worked also. It was nice to meet in the hallway from time to time and ask how each other's family was. Thanks for the memories Fred, you will be missed.

Fred was a good and honorable man. I was fortunate that he was a part of my life for the last 30 years. Fred enjoyed great professional respect at work, and was one of the most well-liked people in the company. Many may not know that Fred was a fully qualified NAUI Scuba Diver. I was his scuba diving instructor nominally 20 years ago. He and I often discussed how to advance our business, current events, and investing. I always enjoyed and sought out is learned opinions.
Fred, you, your smiling face and your warm sense of humor will be so missed. I can't think of a more geniune person than you. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. God bless them.
What a wonderful person that God has called up too soon from this earth. I've worked with Fred from the FB&D Baton Rouge office for many years. Always going above and beyond to help with the systems. He's a part of the S&B/FB&D family that will be truly missed. God bless Fred and his family.............
My deepest sympathies,
