Cecil was a special man! He found the Lord and we shared Him with so many others. It was in the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International in which I knew him. And what a fellowship. I didn't know that he had graduated until I started posting a Happy Birthday greeting. I will be 93 next Monday and I wish he were here to enjoy our birthdays. But he is with HIM and we know he is enjoying being there a whole lot more that being here with us. Amen!
Cecil gave a powerful testimony about quitting smoking. Like many heavy smokers, he was afraid of running out of cigarettes. He always kept a large supply on hand. Whenever he left home, he carried a spare package. Even if he had only used one or two out of the package he was currently using, he would carry a second pack. Also, like many heavy smokers, he had quit and restarted many times. One night as he was praying, The Lord spoke to him and told him to build a cross. He went to the garage, found two boards and nailed them together to form a cross. He then nailed his cigarettes to the cross. He NEVER smoked again.

I always enjoyed talking and working with Cecil at San Jacinto College. I would see him at TCCTA conferences and conventions. He will be missed
Oh, I have such fond memories of Cecil! I've known him for years, since NASA days--we worked together a little bit, and we would cover classes for each other when we were both teaching as adjuncts, just one class while working at NASA, at Central Campus. Then 20 years later, I finished up my degree and found out he was department head at San Jac South Campus, and he hired me as an adjunct there. He was just a great mentor, and gave really good advice, and was always calm in a crisis. I'll miss him, for sure, and my condolences to his family.
Cecil was a dear friend and great colleague at San Jacinto College--his "second career." You could always count on him to be a cut up and make us laugh when we needed it. He served as out department chair from 2004-2010, always using good humor to "herd a bunch of cats." Perhaps even more importantly, he was an outstanding government professor who touched thousands of lives. Students would sign up for his classes because of his way of reaching them. They loved and respected him--as did all of us. Truly, life is not as bright without Cecil and his infectious smile. We will miss him. We know that even now he is making people laugh in heaven!
