Carolyn Sue Widaski's Obituary
Carolyn Sue Widaski, 89, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on May 4, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1936, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, beginning a long and meaningful life rooted in the city she always called home.
Carolyn was a proud graduate of St. Agnes Academy and St. Mary’s Infirmary-Nursing School in Galveston, Texas, where she attended and later became a registered nurse. Her work in nursing reflected the same qualities she carried throughout her life—compassion, faith, steadiness, attention to detail, and a deep sense of responsibility to others.
Carolyn was devoted to her Catholic faith, living it daily through prayer and service to others. She had a strong devotion to the rosary and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Both she and her husband Felix fostered and supported priestly vocations. Always comfortable in a hospital setting, Carolyn happily offered her time after retirement at many hospitals. Also, she participated in various community and parish functions, freely volunteering where it was needed most. Her generosity knew no bounds. Carolyn was quiet but constant, and she touched countless lives through her acts of kindness.
Carolyn also found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. She loved playing the piano, gardening, knitting, reading, and playing word games—most often with a competitive streak that her family knew well and loved.
For nearly 68 years, she shared her life with her beloved husband, Felix Widaski, building a home grounded in devotion, resilience, and love. Carolyn was a woman whose strength and faith were a constant guide for her family, and they will forever remember the way she cared for others through actions, prayer, honesty, and steadfast presence.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Felix; her sister, Phyllis Alexander; her four children: Mark (Elizabeth), James (Camille), John, and Catherine (Jeffrey) Whitt; and a large and loving extended family.
Carolyn was blessed with many grandchildren who brought joy to her life: Keri (Kenny) Ashford, Jesse (Ryan) Powell, Andy (Heather) Rauworth, Matt Widaski, Eric Widaski, and Alex (Chelsea) Widaski. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward: Jonathon Jennings, Charlotte Powell, Lauren Jennings, Ryan Powell Jr., William Stankavich, Taylor Stankavich, Oliver Widaski, and Sloane Rauworth.
The family wishes to acknowledge the caregivers and medical support who cared for Carolyn with compassion and dedication: The Sitting Saints of Friendswood, Spectrum Healthcare, and The Right White House of Alvin, with a special acknowledgment to Magdalena Silva and her staff for exceptional care.
