Celebrating the Spirited Life of Elend Allen Toten Jr
June 4th, 1959 – December 5th, 2025
“It is what it is”
We celebrate the beautiful life of Elend “Allen” Toten Jr, a man who “knew no stranger” and would gladly offer “the shirt off his back & food off his plate.” Born in Orange, Texas on June 4th, 1959, Allen filled every year with Loyal, Compassionate, Hardworking, Generous, and Determined energy. He passed peacefully at home on December 5th, 2025, leaving us rich in stories, laughter, and very good barbecue.
Cooking, outdoor adventures, travel, and music fueled Allen’s days. Whether firing up a smoker, pitching a tent, or planning the next cruise, he turned simple moments into bright memories. Friends and family recall countless evenings gathered around his pit, each one tasting of his trademark kindness.
Allen’s greatest pride was his family. He shared life’s journey with his wife Kimberly, their son Matthew, daughter Amanda, granddaughter Emma, and grandson Patrick. His bonds with brothers Larry and Billy stayed strong, while the memories of brother Mark and sister Sara continue to inspire. Allen also honored the guiding love of his late parents Stella and Elend Allen Sr, and parents-in-law Callye and Skip.
BBQ cookoffs, camping trips, cruise-ship adventures, and rodeos were Allen’s playground. He welcomed anyone to pull up a chair, share a plate, and “shoot the wind” under the Texas sky. Each gathering echoed his belief that good food and open hearts make the best recipe for joy.
Allen’s generosity shaped every handshake and every meal he served. Many remember arriving hungry and leaving not only full but also uplifted by his unwavering spirit. His life reminds us that determination paired with compassion can turn ordinary days into celebrations.
We hold Allen’s motto close, smiling at his confident “It is what it is” whenever challenges arise. Our tribute is simple: keep the pit hot, the stories lively, and the welcome wide—just as Allen always did.
