Mrs. Willie Mae Walker's Obituary
Willlie Mae Walker
January 27, 1910 - February 1, 2015
Our beloved mother, Willie Mae Burk Walker, went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2015, at home with her children attending her. Willie Mae was born on January 27, 1910, to Willie Edwin Burk and Lonnie Rebecca Parmley Burk in Nacogdoches County, Texas, the eldest of ten children. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Alton Walker, and five of her nine siblings. Surviving her are daughter Joan Walker Traylor and son James Alton Walker, granddaughter Lori Jane Walker White (Ken) and grandson Kelly Britt Traylor (Pam), great grandchildren Nicole Traylor and Dylan Traylor, sisters Maxine Laughlin, Gay Nell Palmer (M.I.), Ouida Bristow (George), and Helen Lierman and many other relatives and friends.
Willie Mae was a Houston resident over 79 years, was retired from Sears Roebuck Co., a charter member of the Woodridge Baptist Church, and a current member of Easthaven Baptist Church. In earlier years she enjoyed needlepoint, made beautiful hand-quilted quilts, and loved her day lily clubs and being outdoors working with her plants.
Our mother was a devoted Christian. We love her dearly and miss her desperately but we thank God for the many years we had with her and for her example of a life well lived.
Arrangements with South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main, Pearland, Texas, Feb. 4 Visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Kevin Rizer, pastor of Easthaven Baptist Church, officiating. Pallbearers are Willie Mae’s nephews. Interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.
