Mr. William Perry Watts Jr.'s Obituary
Watts William Perry Watts, Jr., born April 5, 1923 in Cedar Creek, Texas, passed away on April 15 in Houston. He is survived by his wife, Mitsuyo ('Miki') Watts of Pearland and her children Garland and Kimi Kile; son Alan Watts and wife Kathy of Cedar Creek; stepson Donald Wilburn and wife Brigitte of Gilmer, Texas; grandchildren Wesley Watts and wife Kimberley of Austin, Nina, Jesse, Perry, and Faron Watts; and great-grandsons Kellen and Gabriel. The youngest of six children of William Perry Watts and Jessie Alexander, Perry grew up on the family farm & ranch, rode his horse to school, and was valedictorian of the Lytton Springs High School Class of 1940. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and worked as a surveyor and telephone installer for Western Electric before enlisting in the Navy on Christmas Eve, 1942, and served as Electrician's Mate aboard the USS Pasadena in the Pacific campaign in WWII. Perry 'never had a job I didn't like.' His 40-year professional career included public and private service in Washington, D.C., Austin, and Houston as an electrical estimator, engineer, and project manager, most recently for Fischbach & Moore, Inc. of Houston from 1964 ' 1986. Active in retirement, he earned his Master Electrician's license, managed rental properties in the Houston area, maintained the family cattle operation in Cedar Creek with his son Alan, and 'waltzed across Texas' at dance halls with friends at every opportunity. He exemplified his Christian faith as a deacon in the church, a true friend to all, and a loving patriarch to his family. Visitation will be held at Southpark Funeral Home at 1310 N. Main in Pearland from 3:00 ' 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19. Graveside services will be conducted at the Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery on Sunday, April 20, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a gathering of friends and family at the old Cedar Creek School House.
