In 1975 Randy graduated from Alvin High School. He next attended various colleges finally choosing Texas State University and proudly earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1979.
Randy primarily worked in the Power Generation and Oil and Gas Industries. Randy’s last position was as a Business Development Regional Director for a Fortune 500 Company. He helped facilitate growth opportunities for companies and their strategic partners. Randy created business development strategies to support the success of his client’s company and helped it achieve its organizational goals while increasing its revenue.
Randy's work took him all over the country; he lived in many places but was a country boy at heart. This life instilled a love for the Lord, family, our country and his fellow man. He was very dedicated to his community and had a strong desire to help others, never striving for recognition, a man with a humble heart. Randy was a man of integrity, and his word was his bond. As a young man attending the First United Methodist Church of Alvin, Texas he accepted Jesus as his Lord and savior. In recent years he attended Good Shepherd Methodist Church of Cypress, Texas. As a proud member of the Cypress Rotary club, he connected with a diverse group of professionals who shared his drive to give back. Whether it was setting out flags, participating in CAM Sack Pack, raising awareness for Alzheimer’s, or ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. He helped wherever he was needed.
He was blessed with humor, the gift of persuasion, never one to be discouraged by a "no" and his destiny to become a businessman and salesman. He was a fun-loving jokester who loved to make people laugh and made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He cherished all his friends, and he never met a stranger. He was always "striking up" a conversation with someone everywhere he went. His idea of enjoyment was driving the back roads, especially the Hill Country, which he knew every twist and turn with frequent stops for barbecue, his favorite band ZZ Top playing on the radio and at home the more family and friends the better. In his spare time, he enjoyed photography, watching Texas A&M football, sports, movies, listening to many different types of music and spending time with family.
His life was filled with many adventures which led to storytelling, never-ending memories, slow smiles to body shaking laughter. His country wit and slow talking style was a delight. His pride and joy were family, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He often hosted large barbecues for his family and friends. His smoked brisket and sausage were always the highlight of the gatherings.
May his soul dwell with the blessed, our Lord and may his memory be eternal.
The family asks that you tell your parents, your children, your spouse, or your friends that you love them. Do a kind deed. Make amends. Repair a relationship. Be grateful. Because you never know when the end will come.
Randy’s final resting place will be at South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.
The family extends their deepest thanks to the staff of Cypress Assisted Living and Memory Care and the staff of Prime Choice Hospice.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests contributions in Randy’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Association
