Mr. William Gaines Jenkins' Obituary
William "Bill" Gaines Jenkins Sr; 71, a loved husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 after his battle with poor health. Bill was born on October 15, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas to mother, Evelyn (Mercer) Jenkins and father, Paul Jenkins Sr. In 1961 he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1967. On July 15, 1967 he married his best friend Harriet Ruth (Zea) Jenkins. He started working for Continental Airlines in 1969 and retired in 2005 to spend time with his family and do the things he enjoys most. Bill knew no stranger. Always willing to lend a helping hand and an encouraging word to anyone. He was a Jack of all trades with a love for reading old western novels, wood working, and spreading his love and humor. William "Bill" Jenkins is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Jenkins; daughter, Debbie Jenkins; son, William Jenkins Jr; grandchildren, Kelly Jenkins, Chad Barrett, William "Trey" Jenkins III, and Drew Jenkins and many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Jenkins, father, Paul Jenkins Sr; brother, Paul Jenkins Jr; and nephews, John and Phillip Jenkins. We invite you to join his family for services at South Park Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas. The viewing will be from 10:00am-12:30pm, Friday, June 6, 2014 with the service immediately following.
