Mr. William Douglas Harvey's Obituary
William (Bill) D. Harvey (86) Mr. Harvey was born on September 21, 1927 in Dallas, TX, to William B. and Anna Fisher Harvey and left this world peacefully on July 12, 2014 in Houston, TX. Bill was raised in Bremond, Texas and after graduation went into the Navy in 1945. After the Navy he attended Baylor University and played trumpet in the Golden Wave Band. He met Margaret Scott and they were married on June 5, 1950 in Marlin, Texas. They soon moved to Houston and lived there until Margaret's death in 1999. He met his companion Justine Frank and moved to Denton, Texas in 2008 and lived there until recently. Bill was a 60 year Mason, and belonged to Park Place Masonic Lodge where he served as Worshipful Master in 1980. He was employed by East Texas Motor Freight and then retired from Arkansas Best Freight in the mid 80's. His love of Big Band music was his passion. His record collection was in the thousands. He also enjoyed fishing at Moses Lake and Dollar Bay in Texas City. Mr. Harvey is survived by his daughter Julie Hayes and husband Bill, and Granddaughter Kelly, along with numerous cousins and friends. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the chapel. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
