Mr. Willard F. Duffer Jr.'s Obituary
Willard F. "Bud" Duffer, Jr. Willard F. "Bud" Duffer, Jr. went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. In his short 71 years on Earth, Bud touched many lives with his warmth, humor, and charming personality. Bud was born on October 21, 1937 in So. Boston, Virginia to Willard, Sr. and Agnes Duffer who have preceded him in death. Bud was baptized at Dan River Baptist Church in his hometown. He graduated from Halifax High School in 1956, and attended the University of Virginia before enlisting in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, he met the love-of-his-life who was to be his beloved bride for the next 51 years. After a whirlwind courtship of 10 weeks he was married on August 31, 1957 to Ione Myrline Willborn of Kenedy, Texas. Myrline journeyed to heaven before Bud on July 29, 2008. Bud is survived by his his sons James Kieth Duffer and Adrian Jones of Houston, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law Dixie and Paul Thompson of Pasadena, Texas, and his granddaughter and grandson-in-law Tori and Matt Perry, of Nacogdoches, Texas. Bud was employed at M.D. Anderson as a dental lab technician for 28 years. After retirement, his greatest joy was being the #1 Fan in the Stands for all Milby High School basketball games, where his son Jimmy is the varsity coach. He was loved by so many, and will be greatly missed by all.
