Mr. Wallace Newton Meredieth's Obituary
WALLACE “WALLY” MEREDIETH, 91, OF SPRING passed away peacefully on November 4, 2018. He was an active resident of the Spring Creek Assisted Living Community.
Wally was born October 23, 1927 in Old Glory, TX to Lela Pearl Sims & Murphy Kenneth Meredieth. He enlisted in the Army in 1946 and served during World War II. He transferred into the Air Force and served as a Staff Sargent until 1951 during the Korean War. After his time in the service he attended Austin College and earned his Bachelor’s degree and Teachers Certification. While at school Wally met his beloved wife Nadine at a church picnic and they were later married in Bangs, Texas in 1952.
Wally & Nadine moved to the League City area to teach. Wally taught 5th & 6th grade in several public schools in the League City and Pasadena Area. He taught at League City Elementary, Moore Elementary & Garfield Elementary. After retiring from teaching Wally moved to Marshall, Texas to be near lifelong friends. He spent over 25 happy years there.
Wally was a loving husband, loving father, and beloved grandfather. Like the lighthouses he loved so dearly; he was a bright beacon of light and love, for everyone who knew him.
His humor, patience and love were with him until his last day on this earth.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lela & Murphy Meredieth, wife, Nellie Nadine Meredieth, daughter, Choyce G. Meredieth. Survived by; grandchildren, Myla Cowan Wunderlich & husband Larry, Kelly Cowan Vaughan, & Joshua D. Cowan; great grandchildren, Trevor Vaughan, Hunter Vaughan, Stellyn Vaughan, Kynan Wunderlich & Bella Wunderlich; Nephew, Gordon Meredith and wife Valerie.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at South Park Cemetery on Main St. in Pearland, Texas.
