Mrs. Vivian A. Lipscomb's Obituary
Vivian Alberta Smith Lipscomb, 90, entered into eternal rest on Sunday January 2, 2011 at Friendship Haven Nursing Home in Friendswood, Texas. Our Mother was born on November 4, 1920, in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas. She was the second of three daughters born to Nancy Broussard and Mancel Smith. Mother met the love of her life, our Father, Warren Neilson Lipscomb, while in high school. They married on November 19, 1940 and were married for 63 years and one month. Dad was taken to be with God on December 20, 2003 and we know he has been waiting to greet his loving wife when her work here on earth was complete. They are together again at last. Mother took great interest in her children and all of their activities, she was a cub scout den mother, a brownie leader, active with little league, football boosters club, band boosters club, room mother for both children, etc. Vivian is survived by her daughter, Gwynne Diephuis and husband Paul of Friendswood, son Capt W N Lipscomb, Jr USN, (Ret) and wife Mary H of Pensacola, FL; granddaughter, Kimberly and Husband Lt Col Doug Musselman USAF of Hawaii; grandsons, Ray Jared of Alvin; Capt Neil Lipscomb USN and wife Mai of Japan; great-grandchildren Brandon Foote and wife Christine of League City; Dalton Jared of Pearland; Raehel Triola of Houston; Keiran Lipscomb of Japan and Caitlyn Musselman of Hawaii; great-great granddaughter, Isabella "Bella" Foote. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Neilson Lipscomb; parents, Nancy and Mancel Smith, sisters Versie Davis and Anna Mae Coleman and granddaughter Charlyne Triola-Mathews. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Friendship Haven Nursing Home and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care shown to our Mother during her illness in the past months. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at SouthPark Funeral Home with the Reverend Bob Joiner of First United Methodist Church Pearland officiating. Committal to follow, SouthPark Cemetery.
