Virginia Walker Stanton's Obituary
Our beloved mother and Mimma, Virginia Walker Stanton, gained her heavenly wings at 1:55 a.m. on February 11, 2025, at the age of 84. She was lovingly surrounded by family, both blood and chosen.
She was born in LaPorte, Texas on March 11, 1940, to Suvilla Ruth Fondren and James William Walker. She was the fifth child of seven, four girls and three boys: Billie Joyce, Jerry, Margaret, Jamie, Ruth Ann, and David.
Her passion for all things softball and baseball culminated in her playing semi-professional softball as a mother, where her children cheered her on from the sidelines. This love of ball continued through two of her sons and a grandson whom all played professional baseball. This lady loved her baseball!
She leaves behind her daughter, Sherry Huff and husband, Edward; sons William Michael Stanton and wife Debbie, James Timothy Smith and wife Elizabeth; her daughter-in-law Sandra Stanton; one sister, Ruth Ann Groba; and one brother, Jerry Walker. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jared Huff and wife Colleen, Clayton Huff and Becca Schrof; Colin Huff and wife Jacqueline; Mitchell Stanton and Megan Dilworth; Cameron Stanton and wife Emily; Karli Carolan and husband Christopher; Kari Clavette and husband Ryan; Christopher Smith and wife Kayla; and Jennifer Mowery and husband Scott. She also leaves a multitude of great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband William “Bill” Stanton and youngest son Gary Stanton, whom she missed every day.
