Mrs. Virginia Lee Corrales' Obituary
Virginia Lee Corrales, 93, of La Porte Texas, passed away peacefully at her daughters home surrounded by family during the early hours Sunday, October 28, 2018.
Virginia was born to Arville Gray and Lillian Ida (Dearing) Webb on October 11, 1925 on a small farm in Greenland, Arkansas. She and her sister left Arkansas at the start of World War II to work in the shipyards in California where she met Earl Williams, who ironically was from the same area of Arkansas as she. To that union was born a son, Bobby Earl Williams. Earl would later be killed in a tragic accident in San Francisco. Later, she would find herself waitressing in a small coffee shop in Shreveport, Louisiana where she would meet an attractive young man named Murel Corrales to whom she would marry on February 4, 1950.
She was preceded in death, by her parents, her husband Murel Corrales, her son Bobby Earl Williams, her sister Myrl Porter and son in law Dale Gregory.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Lea Gregory of La Porte, Texas, her Granddaughter Melinda Bertling and her husband Wesley of Dayton, Texas. Grandson, Bryan Hanna and his wife Lynette of West Fork, Arkansas. Grandson, Larry Hanna and his wife Christine of Carthage, Missouri. Great-grandson, Christopher Bertling of LaPorte, Texas. Great-grandson, Trevor Hanna and his wife Cynda of West Fork, Arkansas. Great-grandson, Trent Hanna and his fiancé Lane Walsh of West Fork, Arkansas. Her Great-grandson, Joshua Hanna and his wife Ashley of Webb City, Missouri. Her Great-Great-Granddaughter Hallie James Hanna of West Fork, Arkansas. Her Daughter in Law, Joyce Williams of West Fork, Arkansas. She is also survived by countless friends, former co-workers and church family at Sagemont Baptist, as she considered them all family.
After spending 40 plus years at the National Biscuit Company, known as Nabisco, it was time to retire. She spent the remaining years visiting family, overcoming countless health obstacles. Obstacles only they were, nothing was going to get her down or keep her down.
Virginia was a high spirited, full of life, hardworking, God fearing, resilient woman. A wife, mother and grandmother to a family she loved dearly and unconditionally. She loved life, loved to be on the go, loved shrimp cocktail, loved the ocean, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Watermelon, Lemon Pie, loved taking her family out to eat, Coke, Vanilla shakes, Thanksgiving Dressing!. It was far more than just the food she loved, the food brought family together, and meals were shared – those special occasions where memories are made. She will be forever missed. She gave us memories that we’ll keep deep within our hearts and for this we are forever blessed.
A Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St., Pearland, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until service time. Officiating will be Lester Colter. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
