Mr. Vernon Odell Lee's Obituary
Vernon O. Lee was born on November 10, 1919 in Chester, TX. He entered into rest on February 15, 2011. Vernon is survived by his daughter, Mary Lee, sisters, Bobbie and Vivian McDaniel, sister-in-law, Jewell Walthers of Houston, brother and sister-in-law, James and Charlene Johnson of Louisiana, numerous nieces and nephews. Vernon Lee was recipient of 5 Bronze Stars. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in England from 1941 to 1945, during WWII as Master Sgt. Crew Chief over B17 and B24 Bombers and was honorably discharged. He was a Deacon of 1st Baptist Church of Woodville and a member of the Chair and Building Committee. He worked 39 years for Gulf Oil and Chevron until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid gardener and loved the out-of-doors, animals and especially East Texas and the Piney Woods. He was a tried and true Longhorn fan!
