Valiaveettil Varghese Abraham's Obituary
“I have found the one whom my soul loves” – Song of Solomon 3:4
Valiavetil Varghese Abraham (Manichayan) was born on April 29, 1940, to Theng-umivilayil Geevarghese and Mariyamma Varghese. He was born as the second of three children. He was brought up in a God-fearing Marthoma household. His family later accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour and became members of the then Ceylon Pentecost Mission. He completed his studies and worked in Kerala and the Gulf Countries. Abraham married Karingattil Achamma on August 22, 1966. God blessed then with five children. Following the untimely demise of his wife at the age of 43, he moved back to India. In 2000, he left for the US to be with his married daughter Asha (Roy & Bini) family in Houston, Texas. He continued working in Houston and in 2006, he married Saramma, after which she and her kids moved to US to join him. In 2019, he could bring his children and families to the US.
Through the course of his life, endured the heart-wrenching loss of his beloved wife Achamma, dearest son Saji, and loving son-in-law Santhosh. But through it all, he stood steadfast in his faith and carried his pain gracefully with his smile and jokes. He never stopped uttering words of faith and strengthened everyone around him with the word of God and singing songs. He never compromised when it came to his daily devotions and personal prayer.
He has been both, father and mother, to his precious children ever since the loss of his wife. He also got to see his great-grandchild. He fell in in December 2023, and his prayer was to somehow be with the Lord forever. He constantly asked his children to commit him to the Lord. Though he had to endure physical afflictions for a short while, the Lord took him to be with Him forever on February 2, 2024, with family by his side. He was fortunate enough to have his family around him always, especially his last days.
He leaves behind his wife Saramma and his children: Asha and her husband Varghese Mathew (RoY0, with their children Robinson-Jasmin, and Samuel; Usha and her husband Reji, and their children Ashly-Jephin, Ashina-Jerrin, an Alvin; grandchildren Olivia and Hazel; Daisy and her children Rhea and Rheon; daughter-in-law Joicy and children Nissy an Joshua; Jency and her husband Rajagopal and children Aswin and Jia; Nithin and his wife Jaise and daughter Genesis; Neethu and her husband Lijo and son Levi.
Abraham spent his last days at the house of his daughter Usha Reji and her husband Reji Thankachan.
We will dearly miss him, and the loss in irreplaceable, but we have that blessed hope to meet him on the other shore with all our loved ones. Oh! What a beautiful reunion it would be.
