Mrs. Twila Faye Worsham's Obituary
Twila Faye Tynes Worsham received her heavenly crown at 10:25 a.m. on Monday, September 8th, 2014. She died peacefully with her family by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was happiest doing for others and her family. Twila Faye Tynes was born on November 5, 1936 to Marvin Tynes and Elizabeth Irene Rogers Tynes. She was born in Martinsville, Texas the 4th of 5 children. Her family moved to Houston in her early childhood years. After high school graduation she married Waymon Kenneth Worsham, on June 25, 1954. In June of this year they celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage together with a celebration at their church. She was a bright shining example to all that witnessed her love of God and her church, love for her husband and love for her family and friends.
Twila is preceded in death by parents Marvin and Elizabeth Irene Rogers Tynes, a brother Doyle Tynes and her precious son Waymon Scott. She is survived by her loving husband Waymon Kenneth Worsham, daughter Waynette Clarke and husband Mark of Sugar Land, Texas son Chuck Worsham and wife Bobbie of McKinney, Texas, grandchildren, Amanda Clarke Walker and husband Andrew of Missouri City Texas, Andrew Clarke and Kasey Lilly of Houston, Texas, Landry Worsham of McKinney, Texas, Jeremy Prater and wife Stephanie of Wylie, Texas, Justin Prater and wife Courtney of McKinney, Texas, Taylor Fuller & Meghan of Prosper, Texas, great-grandchildren Autumn & Olivia Walker, Paige & Savannah Prater, Layne & Perry Prater and Logan Fuller. Twila is survived by her sisters Doris Baxter, Billie Walker, Brooksie Worsham and husband Dennis. She has numerous nieces and nephews of whom she dearly loved. A special thank you to her nieces Denise Gaston and Andra Ham and her sister Brooksie Worsham for staying with her overnight at the hospital. We know it meant the world to her.
Twila loved the Lord and loved serving in many areas of her church from the Smile Program, the adult senior council & many years as a Mission Friends teacher. Twila faithfully sent cards to the homebound at her church. She felt it was her calling to put a smile on somebody’s face through a card. During her working years, Twila served as an administrative assistant at Brown & Root, South Main Baptist Church and later retired from Compass Bank. She supported Waymon with his career as they lived in several states eventually returning to Houston in 1974. She enjoyed her retirement years, traveling with family and attending activities at her church. When she was first diagnosed with cancer she conveyed that she was not afraid and had a peace about her diagnosis. Even in the end, when things seemed hopeless, her spirit remained strong and she continued to fight until her last breath. Twila will forever be missed by all those whose life she touched,.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 at South Park Funeral Home Pearland, 1310 N. Main Street, Pearland, Texas from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Burial will be Saturday, September 13, 2014 at South Park Funeral Home, Pearland at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 13, 2014 at South Main Baptist Church, 4100 Main Street, Houston at noon.
