Tomasa Aguilar's Obituary
Tomasa Baez Aguilar was born on December 21, 1934 in Mexico to Maximo Baez and Maria Sylvestra nee Espinoza. She passed away on February 3, 2020 in Houston, Texas.
Her parents passed away when she was 20 years old, and she raised her younger sister who was 10 years old. She immigrated to the U.S in 1961 and briefly performed migrant work with her brother. She subsequently worked as a nanny. She met her future husband during this time at a dance hall where he sang “El Reloj” into her ear. It became their song. They were married on October 15, 1967 at Immaculate Heart of Mary.
She celebrated her 85th birthday in December with her family. She was selfless, loving, and kind. She loved making people laugh. She was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandkids.
She is preceded in death by siblings, Celso Baez and wife Celia nee Tamez, Macaria Ruiz nee Baez and husband Enrique Ruiz and Nazario “Chayo”, brother in law, Job Gutierrez.
She is survived by her husband; Alejandro Aguilar, sister: Maria De Jesus Gutierrez nee Baez, daughters, Dr. Martha Aguilar and husband Dr. Joseph Hornung, Dr. Lydia Aguilar and husband Dr. Young Lee, son: Dr. David Aguilar and wife Dr. Emily Sedgwick. Grandchildren; Christopher Hornung and wife Sophie Francoise Peyton, Isabelle Hornung, John Hornung, Aidan Aguilar, Lauren Aguilar, David Lee and Olivia Lee.
