Timothy Uyanne Okafor's Obituary
Timothy U. Okafor of Houston, Texas, previously of Lagos, Nigeria, passed away after a short illness on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the age of 74.
Timothy was born on May 27, 1948 in North Central State, Nigeria to the late Issiah A. Okafor and Ugo (Ndirika) Okafor
Timothy proudly and honorably served his country and saw combat in the Nigerian civil war from 1967 to 1970. He was a proud Biafran war Veteran, living in Lagos Nigeria. He attained his BS in Mechanical Engineering at Yaba College of Technology before moving to the United States, and briefly living in Ohio where he attended Central State University and achieved his BS in Industrial Engineering. He would eventually move his family and settle in Houston, Texas where he attended Texas Southern University and attained another BS in Environmental Health Engineering. He worked for Texas Instruments and Compaq Computers before retiring.
A member of Master’s Vessel Ministries, in Sugar Land Texas he served as the church treasurer. He loved serving the church that he had been a member of for 24 years.
Timothy is survived by his children Ugochukwu Okafor of Mobile, Alabama; Arinzechukwu Okafor of Houston, Texas; Ifeanyichukwu Okafor and his wife Joanna (Shelton) Okafor of Houston, Texas; Miriam (Okafor) Blankenship and her husband Sydney Blankenship of Katy, Texas. He was the beloved grandfather to his grandchildren Arinze Okafor, of Houston, Texas; Briana Okafor of Houston, Texas; Zion Okafor of Houston, Texas; Isaac Okafor of Houston, Texas; Joshua Okafor of Houston, Texas; Omari Okafor of Houston, Texas River Blankenship of Katy, Texas. Along with many cherished family and friends.
Please join the family for a Service of Songs at Master’s Vessel Ministries Sugar Land, Texas at 7PM Friday March 10th.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 11th 11:30AM at South Park Funeral Home Pearland, Texas.
Interment at Houston Memorial Gardens Pearland, Texas.
