Mr Thomas Steven Slebodnik's Obituary
Thomas Steven Slebodnik lost a battle with terminal cancer on March 31, 2009. He was 73 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Owietta Slebodnik, his son, Larry Young and daughter -in- law Jamie Young of Arkansas, daughter, Lois Wild, grandson, Alex Oganron of Katy, TX, daughter, Lisa Hansen, son- in -law Jim Hansen, grandsons, Shane and Cody of Dickinson, TX, son , Steven Slebodnik, daughter -in- law, Cindy Slebodnik, grandchildren Taylor, Mandy, Ryan of Katy, TX., son, Gary Slebodnik and daughter- in -law, Marybelle Slebodnik, grand daughters, Hannah and Sarah of Seabrook, TX. He was preceded in death by nephew, Ray Metz and wife Sandy Metz, brothers wife, Pat Slebodnik and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a graduate of Harvey H. Lowrey high school, Deerborn, Michigan in June of 1954 and lived his youth in Detroit, Michigan and his adult life he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and retired after 20 years. He served with the Airborne Launch control system and sixth Armored Division, Army Security Agency, 10th USFS Japan Army Security, 4th Arm Division, Ft Hood, TX,720th MP Battalion, 4th Missile BT, Camp Page Korea. He loved his country and taught his children to do the same. He worked at NASA for 21 years and retired in May of 2003. Tom made friends wherever he went and always had his wit, a pun, story or joke on hand to bring a smile to our face. He loved serving his country but most of all he loved his family and friends. To celebrate a life well lived, the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m., Friday, at the SouthPark Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4th, 2009 at the SouthPark Funeral Home, Pearland, TX. Immediately following the service, friends are cordially invited to visit with the family at the home of Gary Slebodnik and Marybell Slebodnik.
