Rev. Thankachan Samuel's Obituary
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20 Rev. Samuel Thankachan was born on May 20, 1950 as the third son to M. K. Samuel and Thankamma Samuel. He was raised alongside his three brothers – Abraham, Joy and Jose and three sisters – Marykutty, Rosamma and Mini in a God-fearing household and took water baptism in the year 1968. He married Marykutty Mathew on May 3, 1979 and was blessed with two children. He served in the Indian Air force for 15 years. He completed his Bachelor’s in Arts from Punjab University and Bachelor’s in Divinity from Serampore University. In the year 1986, he dedicated himself to full-time ministry and has served the Lord faithfully for the past 33 years. He dedicated his life for the kingdom of God, traveling the length and breadth of India with the message of love and hope, pioneering in unreached areas with the gospel of Jesus Christ, baptizing several from various culture and creed and mentoring numerous young men, many of whom are in fulltime ministers in various parts of the world. He truly was an encouragement to many with his spirit filled preaching, counseling and prayers. He is survived by his wife Mary Thankachan of 40 years, daughter Betsy Thomas and son Sam Thankachan. He also leaves behind his son-in-law, Benny Thomas, daughter-in-law Bency Thankachan, and grandchildren Emily, Hailey, Timothy, Irene and Obed.
