Sylvia Seleste Pesl's Obituary
Sylvia Seleste Pesl, 85, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2026 at a Pearland hospital where her loving family gathered near. She was born on January 13th, 1940 in Anderson County, Texas, the daughter of Samuel and Bessie Budge. Sylvia graduated from Alvin High School in 1957. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary in California and Texas. In 1959, Sylvia met Rudy Pesl and they were married in 1962. After a couple of years in California, they settled in Texas and celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Sylvia was an executive secretary in Houston and earned many awards including the National Secretary of the year award in 1974. She enjoyed working as an executive to several Houston oil & gas companies and eventually retired from Schlumberger in 2002.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Thelma, Orla, Neil and Betty; as well as her son Michael James and her husband Rudy. She is survived by her son Jim Pesl and wife Brenda Pesl, her daughter Jennifer Gray and husband Richard Gray, four grandchildren: Ashley Pesl, Travis Hoot, Trey Hoot and Rachel Hoot as well as great-granddaughter Ryleigh Pesl. She was blessed to be an additional “Meme” to Kase and Sommer Gray, children of Jordan and Gabriella Gray.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 9th 2026 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with a memorial service following at 2:00pm at South Park funeral home at 1310 N. Main St, Pearland, Texas. Internment will be at South Park Cemetery at 3:00pm. A celebration of life reception will be held at 3:45pm at Freedom Fellowship Church, 1201 N. Main St, Pearland, Texas.
