Mrs. Susan Lynn Cantu - Lumbreras' Obituary
Susan Lynn Cantu - Lumbreras, 55, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015. She was born in Montreal, Canada on July 16, 1959.
She was raised and lived in the U.S. since 1964, as her father’s career moved the family across the continent. The family moved first to Southern California where Susan took an interest in athletics, specifically track and field. She was awarded the Presidential Fitness Award in Junior High in California. We later moved to Houston in 1972, where Susan’s interest in running continued. She competed in many running events and placed first in a long distance running event. As the family become members of Willow Meadows Baptist Church here in town, Susan became an active member in the youth church activities, including the church choir and summer camp program.
Once Susan had children she became a devoted Mother, first to Colin Cantu in a previous marriage and then to Victoria, Warren and Juan Jr. In her current marriage to Juan Lumbreras Sr. Susan was also a happy and devoted Grandmother to Avery Lumbreras and Connor Cantu. Survivors include her husband, children; parents, Warren Philip Hynes and Mary Louisa Hynes; Siblings, Sharon Trotman, Sandra Justus, Stephen Hynes; Nieces and Nephew, Meredith Justus, Alexa Trotman and Mitchell Justus. Her husband, children, grandchildren, parents and siblings will always treasure the moments we had with Susan. Susan was always in an upbeat mood, telling stories and making people laugh, even in the hard times. She appeared to be tough on the outside, but she was a teddy bear and very soft hearted on the inside, a person who loved her family and would do anything for them. Visitation with her family will be held on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2015 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM with a Service of Remembrance at 7:00PM in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home, Susan will be truly missed by her family and friends. We know that she will be guiding us through life and when we remember her, she will continue to make us laugh.
