Steven Roy Andrews' Obituary
Steven “Steve” Roy Andrews was born on July 10, 1941, in Pekin, Illinois to Roy and Dorothy Andrews. Steve was the oldest of six children. Steve passed away on October 24, 2025, in Pearland, Texas at the age of 84.
Steve is proceeded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy Andrews of Corpus Christi, Texas and brother Captain Edward Andrews, (USN Ret).
Steve is survived by his wife of 62 years, Madeline Andrews of Pearland, TX, son Craig Andrews and wife Kimberly of Alvin, TX and daughter Carol Firmin and husband Andre of Pearland, TX. Grandchildren: Steven Andrews and wife Nickol (Riley, Natalee, Gabriella) of Alvin, TX. Aaron Andrews and wife Ashley (Bryson, Mackenzie, Baylor, Ella) of Athens, TN. Abigail Winkenwerder and husband Caleb of Manvel, TX, Amanda Millet and husband Peter (Jules, Remi) of Luling, LA. Kristen Scioneaux and husband Austin, (Ace, Stone) of Vacherie, LA. Madeline Kibbe and husband Daniel (Annie) of Katy, TX, Trevor Firmin of Huntsville, TX. Siblings - Charles Andrews of Stoneham, MA, John Andrews and wife Deborah of Amarillo, TX, Ann Harris of Conroe, TX, and Alice Rios and husband Ino of Frisco, TX. Brother-in-law Clarence “Bud” Jewett of George West, TX and sister-in-law Marie Hunt of Denver, CO. Along with numerous nephews and nieces.
After attending school in Corpus Christi and serving in the Marine Corp (Honorably Discharged) Steve was employed by Shell Oil Company as an Oil Scout. He met and married Madeline Jewett of Kingsville, TX. Transferred to Houston, TX where Steve continued his work as an Oil Scout. After leaving Shell Steve joined the Houston Police Department in 1971, retiring in 1999. During that time, Steve was an active member of the Pearland Lions Club holding various positions including President. After retiring from HPD they moved to Rockport, Texas. In his retirement, Steve enjoyed fishing with good friends Buddy Kondoff, Lynn Turner, and Bishop Kihneman and hunting with Bud Jewett in South Texas for 11 years. While in Rockport, Steve joined the Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus, serving as a Grand Knight. Steve became a Master Naturalist and volunteered on the Ridley Turtle Patrols on Padre and Matagorda Islands. Steve was on the Board of Directors for Habit for Humanity in Rockport and a team member of the Acts Retreats.
After returning to Pearland, Steve became active at Saint Helen Catholic Church serving as an Usher for several years, a member of the Parish Council and continued as an active member of the Knights of Columbus. While living in the Bella Vita subdivision Steve became active in several clubs along with the Flag Program.
Steve will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
