Mr. Steve Hasara's Obituary
On November 16, 2010, Steve Hasara went to be with his wife, Mary Lou Hasara in heaven... We really do not know how to "be" without him. He was a wonderful Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa and it's still hard to believe he's gone... God, please give us the strength to get through this with grace... He was born in Gary, Indiana on February 12, 1936 to Steve G. and Mary M. Hasara. He attended Bishop Noll Catholic High School and worked summers at US Steel before joining the Navy Reserve. He married the love of his life, his fairy princess, Mary Lou Fisk-Hasara on April 11, 1959, who preceded him in death. After their marriage, he graduated from Purdue University with his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Since his high school years he knew that he wanted to be a husband, father and part of the Space Program. After graduating from Purdue, he followed that dream. It took him to Baltimore, Maryland to work for Martin Marietta, then St. Louis, Missouri to work for McDonnell Douglas who transferred him to NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. When the two year contract was over, he went to work for Lockheed. He went back to college while employed by Lockheed and received his Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 1993. After he retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, collecting model trains and so many other hobbies.... He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin, Texas since 1965. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Hasara, son, Stephen Anthony Hasara, his parents, Steve and Mary Hasara, one sister, two brothers and his son-in-law, Mike Karpiuk. He is survived by his daughters Cindi (Karpiuk) Cintala, and husband Mark; Mary Kay Taylor, and husband Johnny; Barbara Alvarez, and husband Tony and son Robert Hasara. His great granddaughter, Adalyn (Addie) Hollnagel, grandchildren, Angela Karpiuk-Hollnagel, husband Chris; Amanda Karpiuk, Josh Taylor; Justin Taylor; Brittany Alvarez and Tony Alvarez. Also, three brothers, Tony Hasara; Larry Hasara, and wife Celeste (Kristen, Trisha and Steven) and Tom Hasara, and wife Elaine; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Johanson, husband Ralph (Deb); Bette Morrison (Jim, Bill, Joan, Kathy, Mike, Jeff, Sandy & Joyce) and Marion Hasara (Jessica and Rebecca). There are so many wonderful nieces, nephews, friends and special people that were so important in his life. To those that have been on this journey with him, we offer our sincerest appreciation and blessings.
