Mr. Stephen David Andrews' Obituary
STEPHEN DAVID ANDREWS, 50, passed away on March 7, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Funeral service will be on March 11, 2009 at 9:30 a.m., Pastor John Davis officiating. Both services are to be held at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581 (281) 485-2711. Stephen was born on April 18, 1958 in Hillingdon, Middlesex, England. At the age of 8, his family moved to the United States where he lived in Billerica, Massachusetts for 4 years. In 1970, his family moved to New Hampshire. Stephen grew up in Merrimack, NH and graduated from Merrimack High School in 1976. Stephen attended NH Vocational College where he pursued an education as a computer programmer. Stephen also attended several certification classes that resulted in Stephen being in the top of his field for computer programming and building and maintaining network servers. On March 20, 1981, Stephen married Brenda Susalka and they had two children together. On June 3, 1981 Kristine was born, and on October 14, 1982, Stephen Jr., was born. In 1995, Stephen moved to Texas and began a career in the computer field. He was employed for many years at Enron where he worked as an IT Supervisor for their Communications Department. Stephen was a valued employee and one of the very last people to be let go before Enron's final shut down. For the past 18 months, Stephen worked for Petrotechnics in Houston, Texas as a Deployment Engineer. Stephen was responsible for implementing and maintaining Petrotechnics software in the Client's environment, working with major companies like BP and many others. Stephen created and maintained many friendships while at Petrotechnics, both with employees and clients alike. As well as being technically gifted in the computer field, Stephen was also creatively inclined in many areas. He could draw a portrait from a picture, or directly from the subject, to exact proportions and of professional quality. Stephen was also a gifted architect. His drawings ranged anywhere from interior designing and floor plans, to outside decking, and even professional landscaping. There was no limit to what he could draw or design. His creativity extended into the music field as well. Stephen learned to sing, play the guitar, keyboard, harmonica and many other instruments "by sound" and was very gifted in all areas of music. He was a part of several rock bands and even performed publicly many times whilst living in New Hampshire. His most current band was with his close friend, Mark Marquis, whose band was called "The Rat Bastards". Unfortunately, Stephen passed away before any public performances were given. In addition to being musically creative, Stephen was a "jack of all trades" as well. He could do your plumbing, work on your car, fix anything mechanical, design your kitchen, build your furniture, work on electrical, fix your computer, and could easily have been a professional interior decorator. You name it, Stephen could do it. As much as his creative and technical skills defined his talents, it was his outgoing personality, intellect, and humor that really spoke of Steve as a person. He made quick and deep friends with those around him. He built up morale and camaraderie in the workforce, and brought tears of laughter to everyone he met. He was never lacking for a quick and witty reply and often broke the ice to make others feel comfortable and included. Stephen was a "live life large" kind of guy whose welcoming presence was felt immediately and was extremely contagious. Everyone loved to be around Steve. Stephen had a broad range of passions including fast sport cars, motorcycles, music and jamming, RC planes, computers, interior designing, and gardening. Steve's passion also extended to the living in dogs, fish, birds, and plants of all kinds. His dog Ally brought Steve many years of joy. Unfortunately, Ally pre-deceased Steve by one day and her ashes will be buried with him. Stephen, and his personality, will be forever embedded in our souls. His humor and powerful presence remains in our hearts and memories eternally. Stephen was pre-deceased by his Father, Peter Andrews, on March 8, 2007. He is survived by his Mother, Kathleen Echols, and her husband, Jack Echols. His children include daughter, Kristine Andrews, and son, Stephen Andrews, Jr., and granddaughter, Maryana. Siblings include sisters, Julie Quin, Carol Andrews, and Lynne Andrews, and brother, David Andrews. Stephen's nieces and nephews include Nyrya Bresnihan, Jennifer Arismendi, Kimmi Moiseyenkov, Christopher Dickie, Samantha Dickie, Cory Nason, Toni Straw, Jillian Woods, Sean Straw, Alyssa McCreight, Marley Andrews, and Maya Everett. Pallbearers will be Stephen Andrews, Jr., David Andrews, Sean Andrews, Mark Marquis, John Perras, and Gary McCreight.
