Sire Persad Sawh's Obituary
Sire Persad Sawh, 81 years old, from Houston, Texas, passed away on March 6th, 2024.
Born on the picturesque island of Trinidad in the West Indies on July 21, 1942, he entered the world as the son of Rambharack and Baby Sawh.
His years in Trinidad were deeply rooted in the vibrant culture of the island. His family settled in the southern village of Santa Flora. In this small town, he went on to establish himself in the goods and services business by owning and managing a feed store, a small grocery shop, and a live pluck and gut chicken store. He also ventured into the transportation industry by operating the very first maxi taxi service in the area. His spirit thrived as he engaged with the local community and became an integral part of their daily lives. A socialite at heart.
Beyond his business pursuits, he dedicated himself to the land that he cultivated and the animals that he so dearly loved. He tended a garden that bore the fruits of his labor—literally. It flourished with a diverse array of fruits and vegetables, that he graciously shared with the community.
Through it all, his greatest passion in life was his love for animals. He raised cattle, goats and sheep, amongst many others. His deep connection with these creatures went far beyond just livestock.
He embarked on the next chapter of his life when he moved to Houston, Texas. Despite the change in scenery, his passions remained intact. Setting up on a piece of land near Pearland, Texas, he continued to nurture his love for agriculture and animals.
His yard in Houston was transformed into a flourishing landscape adorned with beautiful roses and a multitude of fruits and vegetables including hot peppers, tangerines, grapefruits, bananas and sugar cane. Every plant in his garden is a testament to his deep love of the land.
His unwavering passion for nature will define his legacy.
He is survived by his wife Joyce, his children & their spouses, his beloved grandchildren and his brothers and sisters.
