Shirley Kestler's Obituary
Shirley Jean Scheel Kestler, a beloved mother,
grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on
January 13, 2026, at the age of 79.
Shirley was born on January 3, 1947. Her life was
defined by her devotion to her family and her
enduring love for her husband, William Anton “Bill”
Kestler. The two were married on August 7, 1966, in
Houston, Texas, beginning a journey of 55 years
together before Bill’s passing in 2021.
Fiercely independent and dedicated, Shirley’s
greatest joy was found in her family. She was a
constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren.
This included cheering them on and celebrating
each of their milestones with great pride. Nonie was
the absolute best grandmother a child could hope
for. The memories, traditions, and adventures will
never be forgotten by Abigail and Brady.
Shirley is now peacefully reunited with her beloved
husband, her cherished daughter, Jennifer Elaine
Kestler, who preceded her in death in 1988; and her
parents.
Shirley’s memory will be kept alive by her son,
William “Chris” Kestler and his wife Dana of Katy;
her two grandchildren, Abigail Carroll Kestler and
William “Brady” Kestler, who were the lights of her
life. She also leaves behind her brother Henry
Scheel and his wife Cheryl; her many nieces and
nephews; and a community of of extended family and
dear friends.
Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery, where
she will be laid to rest alongside her husband and
daughter.
