Shirley Lee Hughes' Obituary
Shirley Lee Hughes, 83, of Pearland, Texas passed away on June 21, 2025. Shirley was born in Houston, Texas on February 8, 1942 at St. Joseph’s Hospital to Pat and Dona Towner. Shirley’s dad was working in the shipyard during WWII. After the war the family moved back to Brandon, Florida where her dad ran a gas station and car repair shop. When Pat passed away in 1959 Shirley and her mother moved back to Houston and Shirley began working for the City of Houston in the water department. Shirley met her husband James here and they were married on August 10, 1962. They were married for 62 years. They were blessed with three wonderful children; a daughter Kathryn and her husband Sid Powers, sons; Patrick and his wife Jennifer Hughes, and Bryan Hughes and grandchildren; Sarah and her husband Joaquin Garcia, Lauren, Matthew, and Nathan Hughes, and Audrey Powers. The family of Shirley Hughes wishes to thank Laural, Amanda and Regina from Anchor Hospice for their continued help this past year.
The Hughes family will be receiving friends and family on Saturday, June 28, 2025 for visitation starting at 9:00 AM at South Park Funeral Home followed by a celebration of life at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
