Santiago Serrano Saludares' Obituary
Santiago Serrano Saludares
December 30, 1942 – May 30, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Santiago “Sany” Saludares on May 30, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was 83 years old.
Born on December 30, 1942, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Sany was the eldest child of Mateo and Maria Saludares. He pursued his education with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in 1966 and completing the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps for the Armed Forces of the Philippines. These early years reflected the discipline and sense of duty that would define his life.
In 1967, he immigrated to Houston, Texas, where he built a career as a civil engineer, ultimately retiring from Geogram Corporation after years of dedicated service. It was in Houston that he met the love of his life, Myrna. They were married in October of 1968 and together built a family and a life in Houston.
Sany was a man of great analytical mind and quiet strength. He was logical and principled, with an unwavering moral compass. As the eldest child, he carried responsibility naturally and approached life with seriousness and resolve. Those who knew him well were also treated to a dry wit and a warmth that grew more freely expressed with time.
Above all, Sany was devoted to his family. He was meticulous and a hard worker with a sharp memory, whose dedication was matched only by his quiet kindness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Myrna; his sons, Mateo and Rhett; his siblings: Ernesto, Clarita (Segundo), Felicitas (Mario), Araceli, Divina (Danilo), and Roberto (Liezel); and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mateo and Maria Saludares, and his brother Prudencio.
Sany will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
