She is also preceded by death by her grandchildren, Steven, Cody, and Anna Kissinger, and Jackson Darman, as well as her sister, Susan Williamson, and her husband, Dennis. She leaves behind Debra Kissinger, Robin’s wife, and Jay Levy, Peggy’s husband. She is preceded in death by Robert Kissinger (her husband), Raymond Sheffers (her father), Marguerite Delodder (her mother), and Paul Darman (Debra’s husband).
Sandra (Sandi to her friends) was born on March 31, 1940 in a small town called Bell, California, a suburb of Los Angeles County. She graduated from Vergugo Hills High School first in her class, summa cum laude, and attended college in Glendale, California and various places where she lived. She lived in California, Texas (Dallas), Massachusetts, Indiana, Illinois, Key West, Florida, Slidell, Louisiana, and made her final home in Pasadena, Texas. This movement was due to Robert Kissinger’s movement around the United States working for the National Weather Service.
She had been working as an Administrative Assistant/Office Manager wherever she stayed, including a very large portion at United Space Alliance (USA), NASA’s main contractor, as the Senior Assistant and Office Manager of the Flight Design Directorate. She also spent six years in Key West as the only assistant to Kirk Zuelch, a lawyer who eventually became District Attorney of Key West.
Sandi was a great mother, often telling teachers at various locations “not to mess” with her children. She was a member of The International Cat Fanciers Association (TICA) where she showed all of her Tonkinese cats. Most notably, she showed her cat, Taz Buster Brown, as a Household Pet (HHP) because he grew out of the standard for Tonkinese cats. He was an International Award winner, placing 9th as Household Pet in TICA for the year she campaigned him.
She was also a great crafter, sewing since grade school and eventually graduating to quilting. She found her greatest pleasure behind a sewing machine, creating, and hopes to be remembered that way.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Sandra Kissinger’s name to the animal shelter nearest to you on behalf of cats.
